Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the commitment like?
A: There’s no minimum requirement. Some ODs dedicate one day a week, while others help occasionally. The only requirement: if you commit to a visit day, we rely on you — because coordinating subject visits and mobile clinic logistics is complex.

Q: Do I need training, education, or work experience in clinical trials or research?
A: No. Beyond your OD degree and state license, no research background is required. We’ll provide training during onboarding to ensure subject safety and data integrity.

Q: What is the patient load on an average day?
A: Because of the travel and attention to detail that are required in clinical trials, we take our time with each subject. You may see 1 to 5 subjects in a day on board our mobile clinics. Inside a facility, you may see up to approximately 15 subjects. Most frequently, you'll see subjects on board our mobile clinics.

Q: Is travel involved?
A: Sometimes. Our Mobile Vision Clinics travel nationwide, but ODs only work in states where they’re licensed and only when they’re comfortable. You can choose local visits or occasional regional trips.

Q: What types of testing will I be performing?
A: Mostly the exams you already do in practice:
  • Slit lamp exam
  • Goldmann tonometry
  • Dilated fundus exam
  • Ocular history
Other tests may be handled by Clinic Managers, such as trial frame refraction, visual acuity, and imaging.
