At 20/20 Onsite, we value the broad array of experiences and backgrounds our team brings to the table. Each team member has their own unique journey that led them to pursue a career in clinical research. By embracing a wide variety of perspectives and backgrounds on our team, we enhance our ability to serve the diverse range of patients that we encounter in the clinical research field.

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on one of our hard-working employees, Lindsay Derucher, and her journey to a career in the Life Sciences industry.

Tell us about your background. What led you to a career in clinical research?

Throughout my life, I've enjoyed many paths. I’ve found success in roles in sales, hospitality, and caregiving as well as teaching yoga and meditation. My favorite role in life so far has been being a mother. Motherhood will always be what I mention first when people ask me who I am. It is the “bullet point" on my resume that I’m the most proud of, and one of the first things you’ll see on my LinkedIn.

I found myself in clinical trials in a way that feels really special and meant to be. During the pandemic, I met Eric Nier from Block Clinical. Eric has since become a friend and mentor. When I mentioned my desire for a new career path and my interest in the pharmaceutical industry, Eric offered me a role as a patient coordinator with Block Clinical. While I do not have formal experience in the industry, I knew that I wanted to be a part of it in some way. I worked for Block Clinical on a contract level to get my foot in the door and gain experience. Being of service and helping others is one of my values, it makes working hard to be a part of the industry a deeply personal mission. Block Clinical saw my work ethic and potential enough to give me a chance to excel in the industry, for which I am incredibly grateful. I love how my career in clinical research began, and I’m proud of where it’s going. I wake up each day and truly love what I do!

What are your roles and responsibilities as Project Manager for 20/20 Onsite?

My primary focus is patient communication. I create visit schedules, and handle patient scheduling and outreach. Additionally, I engage in site outreach and onboarding, giving me the opportunity to gain valuable insights from both the patient and site perspectives. This equips me with firsthand experiences that I can share with the sites, helping them better understand what we do and how we ensure smooth operations. Lastly, I organize and maintain data, ensuring accurate information for seamless operations.

You have expressed a lot of excitement for joining our team and company. What do you love most about our mission?

What sets 20/20 Onsite apart is our authentic desire to be of service to others and go the extra mile. "We see you" is a big part of our mission and culture. It is embodied by every member of our team so much so that it extends to the patient experience and our interactions with sites. We truly meet people where they are, recognizing diverse backgrounds and healthcare access. From the moment that I joined 20/20 Onsite I have been warmly welcomed and I knew that I belonged here.

How did your time with Block Clinical prepare you for your role here at 20/20 Onsite?

My experience with Block Clinical was invaluable in preparing me for my role with 20/20 Onsite. I started small, coordinating for a few patients and studies and I quickly realized I wanted to serve clinical trials on a larger scale.

Over my time with Block Clinical, it became clear to me that despite their serious reputation, clinical trials are centered around real people and their experiences. Compassion and embracing the human element of clinical trials is a priority for me. Block Clinical emphasized the importance of providing a positive experience to everyone involved, which aligns perfectly with the culture at 20/20 Onsite. The hospitality-focused mindset that I developed at Block Clinical has seamlessly transitioned into my role here, ensuring that we prioritize the well-being of our participants.
