2020 On-site Mobile Clinic Achieves Excellent Air Quality and Professional Standards with STERIS and Emmes Optym certification

Boston, MA, December 10, 2020: 2020 On-site, Boston-based provider of mobile vision care services for more than 350 corporate clients and thousands of patients, is the first mobile clinic in the industry to receive certifications from Emmes Optym and STERIS for excellent air quality, COVID-19 protocols and professional standards. These certifications come as part of 2020 On-site’s expanding program supporting clinical trials and therapeutic solution delivery for pharmaceutical companies.

In preparation for specific scientific programs, two 2020 On-site mobile vision clinics were modified to meet Emmes Optym and STERIS protocols.

STERIS is a leading provider of infection prevention and other procedural products and services. Its test collected samples throughout the 2020 On-site facility to detect any abnormal bacterial and fungal growth, which resulted in a passing, five-star air quality analysis.

Emmes is a full-service clinical research organization dedicated to supporting the advancement of human health and biopharmaceutical innovation. Optym is the ophthalmic certification arm of Emmes. To achieve Emmes Optym standards, the 2020 On-site team took part in rigorous training, equipment inspections, COVID-19 protocol development and demonstrations to prove its qualifications to the ophthalmic certification staff.

"Working with the 2020 On-site team and their mobile units was a great experience for the Optym team.  The mobile units were well organized and properly set up for ophthalmic exams,” Lisa Coleman, Director of Ophthalmic Training and Certification at Emmes, says. “Using 2020 On-site to see clinical study subjects is a great way to maintain continuity for study visits for the immobilized population because they come to the subject’s home. It also can be used for the broader population as a mobile site. 2020 On-site is a great example of how research activities can be creatively expanded to reach a common goal.”

With the growing number of COVID-19 cases, the recent certifications provide comfort to patients and clinical researchers who use the mobile clinics for routine optometry appointments or clinical trials.

“We are grateful for the recognition as we go above and beyond the given protocols to make sure that even the air on board our facility is cleaner and safer than most health care facilities people are visiting,” Ivan Quiroz, Senior Director of Service Delivery says. “The Emmes Optym certification proves we can provide the exact same stringent clinical service and testing environment a brick & mortar clinic can, on our Mobile Vision Clinics.”

In addition to these certifications, 2020 On-site achieves safety protocols on board all of their mobile vision clinics by pre-screening all patients and staff for COVID-19 symptoms with temperature checks, increasing air filtration with two high-quality HEPA filters, and eliminating the need for the puff tests with the latest eye technology.
