Company Y, a biopharmaceutical company specializing in treatments for serious diseases, faced a challenge in ensuring access to essential eye exams for pediatric patients taking its cystic fibrosis (CF) medication. To address the challenge of accessing essential eye exams for pediatric cystic fibrosis patients, 20/20 Onsite partnered with Company Y to deploy Mobile Vision Clinics (MVCs) across the nation. These specially equipped clinics, staffed by experienced optometrists, traveled directly to 76 CF centers, providing convenient and timely care while minimizing travel burdens and wait times. The MVCs offered a safe and comfortable environment for young patients, with specialized pediatric care and rigorous sanitation protocols to protect immunocompromised individuals.
Over 415 patients, including those from rural areas (>50%) and on Medicaid, received essential eye exams.
With a 98 NPS score, families expressed high satisfaction with the convenience, cleanliness, and compassionate care provided by the MVC.
Significant reduction in wait (<30 days) times ensured patients could initiate their CF medication without delay.
The MVC's rigorous sanitation protocols and air filtration systems ensured a safe environment for vulnerable patients.
20/20 Onsite's Mobile Vision Clinic played a crucial role in overcoming barriers to post-market safety exams for Company Y’s CF patients. By bringing care directly to those in need (optometrists' availability in rural areas is only 60+ miles from the city center), the MVC demonstrably improved access, convenience, and safety, while ensuring timely initiation of critical medication.
